Special openings for doors or supply shafts had to be worked into this wooden construction before the form could be filled with concrete. There are indications that such a shaft was integrated into the wall at the Eastern side of the machine room. It probably allowed ventilation pipes from the air raid ventilation system to pass through into the bunker.
