The Reichsschatzamt
The Reichsschatzamt main building was built by the architect Georg Wilhelm von Mörner. Although Mörner initially built the Reichsschatzamt with a natural stone façade, the building harmonised perfectly with the surrounding structures. The decisive reason thereof was that Mörner adapted his design and eave height to the appearance of the Deutschen Reichsbahngesellschaft. By re-constructing the Wilhelmplatz in 1936, its southern, western and northern construction was optically emphasised. The architecturally synchronised buildings were clearly visible now and could be identified as one structural unit. The excessive height of the buildings on the east-side however, was hidden by the high trees.
