Borsig Palais
The Borsig Palace was constructed by Richard Lucae between 1875-77 for the business man August Borsig. From 1933, the palace was let out to the German Reich before being purchased by the Reich in 1934. In the same year, Hitler commissioned Albert Speer to develop the building for use as the Headquarters of the SA. In 1938, the Borsig Palace was integrated into the building of the New Reich Chancellery. The palace was damaged in the battle for Berlin in 1945. In 1947, authorisation was given for the building to be used as building materials and the palace was detonated together with the East Wing of the New Reich Chancellery. |
